Tegan Moore
Tegan Moore makes sculpture and installation that filters through a practice of salvage and re-use. Her work examines underlying complexities of materials related to the built environment by way of their organic and chemical properties, and industry schemas, and effects on natural systems. Through a granular, intuitive, and research-based studio practice her recent work intricately resurfaces peripheral matter. She also works collaboratively with plastic pollution research group The Synthetic Montréal.
Moore holds a Master’s degree in Fine Arts from Western University (London, Ontario) and a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts from Emily Carr University (Vancouver, British-Columbia). She has participated in residency programs at Evergreen Brickworks (Toronto, Ontario) in 2023, Tokyo Arts and Space (Japan) in 2018, Mustarinda (Hyrynsalmi, Finland) in 2017, and Aldea (Bergen, Norway) in 2015. Recent exhibitions include Le synthétique au cœur de l’humain, Canadian Cultural Centre (Paris, France) in 2023, Residuum at Galerie Nicolas Robert (Montreal) in 2022, Plastic Heart: Surface All the Way Through at The Art Museum at the University of Toronto in 2021, and Foam Fatigue at YYZ Artists’ Outlet (Toronto) in 2021.
